The 2017 Acura NSX Base marked the highly anticipated return of Acura's legendary halo supercar, completely reimagined as a technologically advanced, mid-engine hybrid. Designed and manufactured in Ohio, USA, it combined traditional internal combustion with cutting-edge electrification.

Powertrain & Performance:

The heart of the 2017 NSX is its sophisticated Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system:

Engine: A longitudinal, mid-mounted 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 delivering 500 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque on its own.

Electric Motors: Three electric motors complement the engine—one direct-drive motor at the rear transaxle (47 hp) and a Twin Motor Unit (TMU) at the front wheels (36 hp + 36 hp).

Total System Output: A combined 573 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission: 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

Acceleration: 0–100 kph in just 3.0 seconds with a top speed of 305 kph.

Fuel Economy: Surprisingly efficient for a supercar, with an EPA-estimated 11.2 combined L/100km (11.7 city / 10.7 highway).

Chassis & Engineering:

Construction: Built on an aluminum-intensive multi-material space frame featuring a rigid carbon-fiber core floor.

Suspension: All-aluminum double-wishbone front and multi-link rear setups paired with advanced third-generation magnetorheological dampers that continuously adjust to road conditions.

Brakes: Standard 2-piece floating iron brake discs with Brembo calipers (6-piston front, 4-piston rear). High-performance carbon-ceramic discs were available as an expensive factory option.

Driving Experience & Tech:

The NSX offers four distinct driving modes via its Integrated Dynamics System:

1. Quiet: Utilizes the front electric motors for near-silent, low-speed electric cruising—ideal for residential neighborhoods.

2. Sport: The default setting balancing everyday comfort and efficiency.

3. Sport+: Sharpens throttle response, firms up the suspension, and quickens downshifts.

4. Track: Maximizes all components for absolute track performance and aggressive torque vectoring.
